ABOUT SHAKEH

Shakeh Avanessian received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University of Los Angeles, in 1994.  She worked as a laboratory technician for several years in different establishments, and then moved on to project management in clinical trials.

Thanks to a severe leg pain, she discovered acupuncture treatments. The treatments not only helped ease her pain, but sparked a great interest in the Traditional Asian Medicine.  With the encouragement of her family, Shakeh returned to school and completed a four year professional program in acupuncture and herbal medicine at Emperor's College of Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California. She became a California Board Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist in 2006, and immediately established her practice at Riverside Health Center in Toluca Lake. She works with a group of established and wonderful chiropractors, acupuncturists, and a massage therapist, sharing a calm and inviting office. Shakeh recently completed a certification program in Functional Medicine to further support the comprehensive care of her patients.

Today, after 15 years at the same location at Riverside Health Center in Toluca Lake, CA, she treats pain management cases with acupuncture and herbal therapies. She also addresses many physiological imbalances utilizing her knowledge of not only Traditional Asian Medicine but also Functional Medicine, which further investigates the underlying causes of disorders.

In June of 2021, Shakeh established a second office, Alternative Health Center at Pine Mountain Club, CA, and hopes to be of service to  her local community.

Besides spending time with family and friends, Shakeh's greatest joys in life are reading books and riding her bicycle in the beautiful State of California with her husband of 27 years.
